THE Ottoman Empire

The Ottoman Empire[dn 4] or Sublime Ottoman State (Ottoman Turkish: دَوْلَتِ عَلِيّهٔ عُثمَانِیّهDevlet-i ʿAliyye-yi ʿOsmâniyye[7] (also عثمانلى دولتى Osmanlı Devleti),[dn 5] Modern TurkishOsmanlı Devleti or Osmanlı İmparatorluğu) was an empire which lasted from 27 July 1299[8] to 29 October 1923.[9] It was a Turkish empire inspired and sustained byIslam and Islamic institutions.[10]

The Ottoman Empire was one of the largest and longest lasting empires in history; such that the Ottoman State, its politics, conflicts, and cultural heritage in a vast geography provide one of the longest continuous narratives. During the 16th and 17th centuries, in particular at the height of its power under the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, the empire became the most powerful state in the world – a multinational, multilingual empire that stretched from the southern borders of the Holy Roman Empire (until the outskirts ofVienna), Royal Hungary (modern Slovakia) and the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth in the north to Yemen and Eritrea in the south; from Algeria in the west to Azerbaijan in the east;[11] controlling much of southeast Europewestern Asia, and North Africa.[12] The empire contained 29 provinces and numerous vassal states, some of which were later absorbed into the empire, while others were granted various types of autonomy during the course of centuries.[dn 6]

THE REASON I am writing about this today is that last night at ABC’s Iowa GOP debate I thought it was one of the most important issues. As told in the UK’s Guardian News, ” Leading Palestinian officials have rounded on the Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich for his description of Palestinians as an “invented” people and “terrorists”.

Last night’s (12/10/11) moderators took Gingrich to task on this issue and he played the “Historian” card and referenced the Ottoman Empire in his response (the other 5 Hopefuls did not challenge him). I sure had to do a bit of research to refresh my memory. That Empire went 700 years, not bad! We could fill this blog with a lot more information on how the Palestinians got to where they are today but we have enough to get to my next point, should we ask the many Native tribes of North America if the United States exists, and it’s People invented? How about the beautiful Hawaiian islands, our 50th State?, is it really?

Basically Newt is very smart, he knows how to get elected by saying the right things to the right people, calling Israel’s Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu , these guys must be tight to call him Bibi. Maybe Ben has some clout with the U.S. via the AIPAC?

I think Ron Paul made sense when he said we need to let them settle their own issues and stop nation building( I think there is a 12 step program for that), bring our Military home, not just from Afghanistan and Iraq, but all over the world, and stop the military aid, 1 Billion to Egypt, 3 Billion to Israel…

I’m pretty sure the sign in bright red lights at the RNC still reads “Landslide Warning” after last night’s debate.

Hello, my name is Rick Miller, welcome to comprehensive photography. In the name 'comprehensive', means to have a pretty solid grasp about the art of contemporary photography, and how the tools (both hardware and software) are all used together to produce a very precious product to meet your needs. Photography simply means that we are able to capture an image through the use of light and film, or, by using digital chips in very sophisticated cameras. My guess is that you "GOOGLED" something about photography to find us here on this website (don't you love Goggle?). I live in Santa Rosa and Eureka, California, about 40 miles (Eureka is a bit further north) north of the golden gate bridge with my wife Pat and our two boys — Ben, and Jeremy. My daughter, Sarah, is grown and lives in Portland Oregon. I am strictly a digital photographer, although I have purchased thousands of rolls of Fugi ASA 400 (now called ISO, the digital cameras auto-correction, for light compensation). Our negatives are all digitized and burned onto a DVD. I've been shooting digital for over five years, with my previous 28 working for AT&T (in digital transport via fiber, DS1, and DS3) — during which time I was a manager in charge of 911, and all "First Responder" communications, for 5 years. I shoot mostly with Canon products — my two camera bodies, and all my lenses are Canon. I edit in a variety of software. Adobe Lightroom and I use Apple's "Aperture" (I'm a Mac person), "Light Room" and "Adobe CS4 Extended". These are tough economic times, anyone out of work and financial issues knows what I mean. I also know how important it is to document special times in our personal lives, without costing a lot. I love working with you, and creating a quality product that will best capture those special moments in time forever. So don't let these tough times stop you from documenting YOUR special times, let's get together and make memories. Have you ever been feeling a little low and maybe started thinking of someone special, and then gone to a photo album or watched a slide show and re-filled your heart with joy? It is truly worth it. This website is growing very fast, it is meant for business but it is also meant for fun (Thank You Rod Remelin). Please feel free to shoot me an E-Mail, and tell me what you like, hate or feel indifferent about. Thank You for being here Sincerely Rick Miller
